We know that Minecraft version 1.8 (also referred to as the "Adventure Update") is available via semi-official methods since last week after an Mojang developer leaked the update with the approval of the studio. If you're not feeling like going through the file, you can now download the update via the Minecraft launcher, and it has been made available to all users.
